On this day eight years ago every pre-teen and teenager in the land was heading to their local cinema to watch the third and final instalment of Disney’s High School Musical movie franchise.
The musical series starring, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Corbin Bleu, Ashley Tisdale, Monique Coleman, and Lucas Grabeel as six high school students, was a global success after the first two movies premiered on the Disney Channel.
The success of High School Musical, and High School Musical 2, led to the third film being a cinema release.
High School Musical 3: Senior Year, was released worldwide on October 24th 2008, and was a massive success grossing $42,030,184 on its opening weekend in the US alone, over the course of its time in the cinema it took over $250,000 million worldwide.
The third instalment followed Troy Bolton (Zac Efron), Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) Chad Danforth (Corbin Bleu), Taylor McKessie (Monique Coleman) and Sharpay and Ryan Evans (Ashley Tisdale, and Lucas Grabeel) struggling with the idea of leaving their school years behind and heading for college.
